I personally love being able to watch tv shows on dvd, on my own time. It is especially convenient when those shows are no longer being shown in syndication, or at least not on network stations. However, there are an awful lot of scams being perpetrated upon a gullible public in this forum. I thought it was odd that the only place I could find “Sue Thomas, F. B. Eye” series was on two websites, Tvaddicts and The DVD Store, that looked … fishy. No listing on Amazon and no licensing from the respective producer and distributor companies. No info at all. So, after all of a minute of searching, I found a topic discussing these very vendors on Complaintwire.org. All of the following are running scams, including fraudulent charges, selling bootleg copies and unlicensed material.

I got nailed by these scammers too. I tried to find the 77 Sunset Strip series from 1958-1964. My wife bought these from TVSHOWMONSTER.com – charge her credit card and has never delivered the goods. I’m making it a personal goal to find these guys. If you try to contact the webhosting company hostrocket.com you get put on hold forever as the second caller waiting. I bet they get a big laugh out of this. Try calling them at 518-371-3421 and see if you have any luck getting in touch with John Reyes the supposed principal at hostrocket.com. Is there any way to shut down a domain completely?

That’s my list. I’m glad the word is getting out about these scammers. I maintain a growing list of these scum on the Yahoo! Answers Forum. It can be accessed at:
suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&fid=105562
I update the list every couple of weeks, on average. Also, check out these two lists for many more scam sites:
newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Rec/rec.arts.tv/2008-11/msg02508.html
shop-4-dvd.com/list.htm
Between these three resources, I hope to warn potential victims. As far as shutting down a domain, I have no idea. But if we spread the word all over the net, a critical mass may be acheived, whereby these scum will not find it profitable to operate any longer. Stick to the tried and true sites for ordering movies, places such as Amazon and the like.

I ordered a boxed set of the Nanny series at Christmas 08 the dvds did arrive FROM
CHINA they are of such poor quality its hard to watch them looks like they were copied off the television with a camera .
I complained to their web site and keep getting the same e mail reply no matter what you ask them they offer you a full refund ,replacing the dvds,or you keep the dvds and they refund shipping so far none of these has happened as I get the same e mail response with a different name signed at the bottom .

Yeah, sadly there is quite little that one can do to stop these guys. My little contribution is to spread this list and hope that more and more people will see it and learn not to order anything from these scammers. Feel free to pass this list along and post it elsewhere. I myself got it off of complaintwire.org.

I was looking at purchasing Babylon 5 complete boxset and found DVDMD site. fortunatley I also found this site which got me worried.
They dont warrent any of their products in any way, shape or form including any viruses delivered with DVDs. here’s some answers about the origine of their stock.
Why are these DVDs so inexpensive?
A: We do not sell bootlegs, copies, unauthorized material or pirated DVDs. Our DVDs are officially authorized international releases. These DVDs are the same as the U.S. released versions, the same high quality DVD’S.
There is only a slight difference with the packaging and may contain Asian and English writing. They are region free or region 1 which is original English audio and NTSC/PAL format compatible, which means they will play on all region coded DVD players.
Q: Will these DVD’s play in English and are they Guaranteed to Play in all USA and Canadian DVD Players?
A: These DVD’s play in English and are Guaranteed to Play in all USA DVD Players. ALL DISKS ARE EASILY USED WITH ENGLISH NUMBERS ON the BOXES AND DISKS. They will also play in any other Region 1 NTSC DVD Player. Although the sets are foreign manufactured, the sets are brand new, licensed, legal, factory made high quality DVD’s. We do not tolerate or sell pirated or bootleg versions.
Q: Where do you get these from? A:These are foreign manufactured sets and may have foreign writing on boxes and/or DVD’s.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: We replace all damaged goods free of charge. Non Damaged items can be returned, in the original new/sealed condition, within 45 days of purchase at the buyer’s expense for a refund of item cost minus a 10% restocking fee. Shipping and handling is not refunded. For DVD pre-pack assortments, we must receive the entire lot back for a refund, you may NOT keep the ones you like and return the rest. There are no returns on Clearance Items. There are no returns on international orders.
I like the last paragraph here, so if you live outside the states tough luck.
Well you know the old saying “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is”
TGF this site and the listings I hope this saves a lot of people a lot of grief and money. One day these people will get their just desert.

I have almost been burned by these guys. My daughter was also going to order from them before i stopped her.
Why don’t you who have been defrauded report it to the FBI. I can’t because I haven’t been actually defrauded.
The FBI sight links you to the following site where you can file a complaint.
http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
Complaining won’t stop them. Getting them put in jail will, unless the prisons give them computers and internet!
cheers

Thanks so much fort his site guys. I was just about to buy Life and Times of Grizzly Adams” which I could not find on Amazon from http://www.dvdglobe.tv and even had my credit card in my hand when soemthing made me want to look further into the company. I’m glad I did!!

My question is ….why are these companies connected to Amazon and Yahoo and places like that???You put into the search engine what you are looking for and those companies show up….so where does the problem really lie???I think if the reputable companies wouldn’t allow these “rider” companies to post on their sites then there wouldn’t be a problem!!!

Also if you notice when you try to place an order with these companies the spaces do not allow you to fill them in or it skips…….That is what made me look “further”….And remember the old adage: “If it sounds or looks to good to be true than it usually is.” That is the best rule to live by when dealing with any company!!!!!!!

I, too, have lost over $60 to dvdtvmania.com. Like a fool I didn’t do research first; if I had, I would’ve seen plenty of compaints. After a few weeks of no dvds showing up, I tried contacting them by email multiple times; No response. This has been a couple months ago, now.
I guess education is the only way for people to learn to avoid these sites. But I sure wish I knew a way to prosecute the people behind it. They have to be raking in thousands of dollars everytime they change the name and look of their sites.

I ordered the complete set of “Mama’s Family” from DVDglobetv.. Got an email saying they were being shipped through China shipping, they gave me the tracking number. That tracking number wasn’t valid.. Never got the DVD’s.. Reported it to my credit card company, my card they said had been compromised, and they sent me a new credit card. Don’t do any business with this company, they are not legit.

Thank you all so very much, I was looking for a seller of Sue Thomas F B Eye, when I came across this site, I already have 5 of these companies in my favourites (or did have) but after reading about these scammers, I won’t bother. Shame, because my wife was so looking forward to watching these, along with Father Dowling, but I’m not throwing good money away so others can get rich quick at my expense.
Once again, thank you, and may these scammers know what real hardship is.

Hi, Well today I picked up my package and was the lasted victom of online theft! “TVPAST.COM” I called this guy today and he was extremly rude to me, laughing at me on the phone, he even made it sound like it was my fault. What a total jerk. He shipped the DVDs 3 towns away from me. I will ask my father because he is a police officer, what can be done, I am hoping they will have a sting at this p.o. and get him, I am not sending the DVDs back to him I will give them to the police station so that way he can’t scam other people. This guy is a snake in the grass.
